Micromeritics Analytical Services to present poster at 2008 Pittsburgh Conference. - 2/27/2008
There are many particle size techniques available and choosing the most appropriate technique can be difficult and sometimes confusing. This is especially true when you need to know the “particle size” of materials having different geometric shapes. Micromeritics Analytical Services (MAS) studied the particle size results of three different materials—spherical-shaped glass beads, cubic-shaped garnet, and rod-shaped wollastonite-- using laser light scattering, electrical sensing zone, sedimentation, and dynamic image analysis particle size techniques. “The focus of our research was to demonstrate and explain why different particle size techniques can produce different results for the same samples, and why they all may be correct,” says Greg Thiele, Business Manager for Micromeritics Analytical Services.
