Zeolites are microporous aluminosilicates that are commonly used as catalysts and adsorbents in many applications.
Acid site characterization of a zeolite is crucial to gauge and optimize for a wide variety of different catalytic activities.
In this case study the effect of different SiO2/Al2O3 ratios on acidity of ZSM-5 and the effect of heat on Beta Zeolite were explored using the Ammonia Temperature Programmed Desorption. This technique on the Micromeritics AutoChem 2930 provides a simple and reproducible mean to qualitatively analyze solid acids.
