Malvern Panalytical is pleased to offer this one day in-person training course at our facility in Norcross, Georgia. This course will be focused on hands-on operations of powder flow characterization technology and interpretation of results/data analysis.
Who Should Attend:
Technicians, analysts, lab managers, researchers, and anyone needing to operate and/or interpret and understand results generated from a powder flow analyzer should attend this course. The course will utilize the latest Freeman Technology® Powder Rheometer model, but most course material is also applicable to users of other powder flow instrumentation. The course is extremely beneficial to the entry-level operator and moderately experienced users wishing to expand their capability.
Preparation:
A course packet consisting of recorded lectures and e-learning modules must be completed prior to arrival. These will be distributed by the instructors electronically one week prior. The time spent in person with our instructors will focus on practical elements. Prior hands-on experience with the instrument is helpful but not required to attend.
Background:
The FT4 Powder Rheometer® provides flowability characteristics of powders and bulk solids materials. This includes various conditions for the powder ranging from high-stress, tightly packed states to loosely packed or fluidized states. These various analyses help identify different material properties such as cohesiveness, effects of friction, shape effects, density, etc. The wide range of analyses make these studies applicable to a wide range of powder handling processes including but not limited to design of storage bins & hoppers, fluidized beds, tablet presses, powder bed fusion, formulation development and additives, and more.
Curriculum:
- The instrument components and overview of accessories
- Sample preparation, including loading and conditioning a sample
- Additional considerations for specific samples that require non-standard sample prep
- Hands-on testing procedures, including:
- Dynamic Flowability Characterization, Bulk density, Permeability, Fluidization, Shear cell testing, and Wall Friction analysis
- An overview of data interpretation and reporting options
- The customization of testing methods and discussion of appropriate procedures for modifications
- Demonstration of best practices, tips & tricks, and cleaning procedures
- Operator Maintenance with a member of our Service Department to discuss troubleshooting and user-maintenance
- Calibrations procedures
Complimentary breakfast snacks and lunch will be provided. The customer is responsible for all other costs of hotel, transportation, and additional meals outside of what is provided.
Course registration will close one week prior to the course date or as soon as the class is full. This course has limited seating, please don’t wait to register.
